I Will Seek You in the Morning

"The men who have done the most for God in this world have been early on their knees. He who fritters away the early morning, its opportunity and freshness, in other pursuits than seeking God will make poor headway seeking Him the rest of the day. If God is not first in our thoughts and efforts in the morning, He will be in the last place the remainder of the day."

    Suffer the Children

    • Nearly 200,000 dead
    • Over 1.9 million homeless, living in tents
    • Tens of thousands have been abducted, beaten, raped
    • Is there any hope?

Although a peace agreement was signed to help bring an end to the conflict in Sudan back in January of 2005, the bloodshed, famine, and suffering continues to wreak havoc for millions of displaced men, women, and children in Darfur, West Sudan.

We can help! - Samaritan's Purse: Emergency Feeding in Darfur

Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’

    The Discipline of Fasting

Is fasting ever a bribe to get God to pay more attention to the petitions ? No, a thousand times no. It is simply a way to make clear that we sufficiently reverence the amazing opportunity to ask help from the everlasting God, the Creator of the universe, to choose to put everything else aside and concentrate on worshiping, asking forgiveness, and making our requests known-considering His help more important than anything we could do ourselves in our own strength and with our own ideas.

    Edith Schaeffer

"And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you."

    Praise Him with Stringed Instruments

I was first introduced to Doyle Dykes several years ago by a dear friend named Matt Creath when we were living and ministering in Baumholder, Germany. Matt is a phenominal guitar player who has the ability to make everyone stop and listen whenever he begins to play. When I asked him who his inspiration was, he simply responded "Doyle Dykes". I have since purchased two of Doyle's CDs and I continue to be amazed at what this man can do with a guitar. Thank you Matt!

Here's a sample of what makes Doyle Dykes one of the best musicians in the world.

    Story of True Love

My wife and I were moved to tears as we watched this CNN video clip about a U.S. soldier serving in Iraq who adopted a young boy with cerebral palsy. This is the kind of story that reminds me that God is indeed working behind the scenes during this war on terror.

Brian "Head" Welch - Korn to Christ

The insanely popular rock group "Korn" lost their lead guitarist, Brian "Head" Welch, back in 2005 after years of depression, drugs, and emptiness finally caught up with him. More to the point, Brian trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. Although I was never a fan of this group, nor am I familiar with any of their music, Brian's transformation from dark metal rock star to born again Christian is amazing to say the least! If you want to see what the power of God can do in the life of someone who wanted nothing more than to die, then take a moment to watch "Head to CNN" and "Cribs" under the 'Media' tab at Brian's website: www.headtochrist.com

Brian McLaren - Leading Sheep Astray

Here is an insightful look into the warped theological reasoning that characterizes many of the emergent church leaders today like Pastor McLaren...

    Oh! To be like Jesus

I am sure that there are many Christians who will confess that their experience has been very much like my own—that we had long known the Lord without realizing that meekness and lowliness of heart should be the distinguishing feature of the disciple, as they were of the Master. Such humility is not a thing that will come on its own. It must be made the object of special desire, prayer, faith and practice.

    Teen With Courage!

Here's an inspiring news clip that demonstrates how one Christian young person who took a stand for what's right caught the attention of CNN and the world!

"For I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God unto salvation for all who believe, first to the Jew, then to the Gentile."   Romans 1:16

From the Heart of Jim Elliot

Jim Elliot on why he became a missionary...

"You wonder why people choose fields away from the States when young people at home are drifting because no one wants to take time to listen to their problems. Ill tell you why I left. Because those Stateside young people have every opportunity to study, hear, and understand the Word of God in their own language, and these Indians have no opportunity whatsoever. I have had to make a cross of two logs, and lie down on it, to show the Indians what it means to crucify a man. When there is that much ignorance over here and so much knowledge and opportunity over there, I have no question in my mind why God sent me here. Those whimpering Stateside young people will wake up on the Day of Judgment condemned to worse fates than these demon-fearing Indians, because, having a Bible, they were bored with it---while these never heard of such a thing as writing."

    Online Bible Study

Can you imagine what the Apostle Paul could have accomplished if he had been able to access the internet in his day!? Maybe more, maybe less. Still, the fact remains that there are countless Bible study tools to be found online that are absoulutely free and are useful to both ministers and lay people alike. Here are a couple of recently discovered study tools that I would like to suggest:

    The Online Parallel Bible        http://bible.cc

    Scripture Text      www.scripturetext.com

If you know of other helpful websites that will serve to benefit students of God's Word, please pass on those links to me and I will be sure to post them.

"The Word of God well understood and religiously obeyed is the shortest route to spiritual perfection. And we must not select a few favorite passages to the exclusion of others. Nothing less than a whole Bible can make a whole Christian."
