3月17日 Softball in the snowThe weather took a turn this past week and it was FREEZING at our game on Saturday. We played in Ikego, which is a family housing area about 15 minutes from our house. The girls were sooo cold, but they played great and Hope was put in as pitcher (for the first time) in the middle of the game. As soon as she started to pitch it began to SNOW!!! Nothing accumulated, but it was just so cold. Hope struck out 5 batters total in 2 innings. She had great confidence. Jenna also tried out a new position - catcher. She did great and almost got someone out at home plate. The team won 7-3. They played against Jenna's best friend's team. Carrie (her best friend) pitched great, too! It was great because it wasn't a bunch "walks" scoring runs. There were few walks, many hits and some strike-outs. We'll have more on the season as it progresses. 3月13日 Making the TimeDear Friends and Family,
I hope that all of you are enjoying your week and that your hearts and minds are being strengthened by your time in the Word of God each day. Getting time alone with God on a regular basis is not easy, in fact, it takes a lot of discipline at first. Some say that it only takes 30 days to form a habit. If this is true, then in just a month or so you and I can develop a consistent pattern of spending some time in the Word each day while enjoying some fellowship with the Lord. Instead of feeling guilty about your lack of consistency with your time in the Word, or maybe a sporadic prayer life, ask God to help you adjust your priorities and your schedule so that you can begin to enjoy a daily dose of rewarding quiet time.
By the way, a good "quiet" time does not necessarily mean that it has to be absolutely quiet! Some of my favorite places to spend an hour with the Lord is on a park bench or at a nearby Starbucks. It doesn't really matter 'where' we are when we spend time with the Lord, it just matters that we do it.
Have a great week in the Lord and continue to pray for one another.
In His Amazing Grace,
Paul
3月7日 "Hello, my father just died"In honor of William Piper - An excerpt from John Piper's journal entry dated March 6, 2007:
"It was 12:55 as I walked out of room 4326. Just before the elevators on the fourth floor in the lounge, a young man in his twenties was sitting alone listening to his iPod with headphones. I paused. Then I walked toward him. He stopped his music. Hello, my father just died. One of the greatest tributes I could pay to him is to ask you, Are you ready to meet God? “Yes, Sir.” That would make my father very happy. You know Jesus is the only way? “Yes, Sir.” Good. Thank you for letting me talk to you."

3月3日 Stacy's updateIt's late, but I just got 4 sets of pictures updated on our blog. Here they are:
* Hope, Jenna and I went strawberry picking today (Sat.). In Japan, you pay about $12 to pick and eat all the strawberries you want in 30 minutes. They give you a little tray and some sweet milk as a dip. Then you leave and you can't take any with you!
*Gracie's haircut - we took her to a local shop and they did a great job. She looks a little like a Maltese. In about a week she'll be spayed. :(
*Jenna was in a relay race in Ikego - a "friendship" activity with the local Japanese community. She had a pretty good time, but it was cold and she struggled a little in her running. The Japanese teams were serious running clubs, where our team was there for the friendship. Overall, all the girls did great! I was proud of Jenna's perseverance.
*We went to the Mt. Fuji area to sled with another family, the Demetriades. We had a wonderful time with them, though we came home a little sore and Paul's back was out for almost a week.
Enjoy the photos and be sure to see the "head" at the end of the strawberry picking photos. I've never seen scarecrows like this. Kinda creepy.
Desiring to be more like Jesus,
Stacy |
